From Cancún you visit
one of the great centres of ancient Maya civilisation
- the fabled Chichén Itzá. Mérida
offers the chance to see the colonial legacy of
México at its finest.
From here you will venture south to the idyllic
Caribbean islets of Belize. On Caye Caulker you
can snorkel with parrotfish and stingrays. It
is no wonder why pirates lingered among these
happy shores. Next, enter Guatemala and visit
Tikal, a "World Heritage Site", whose
pyramids reach for the skies, giving a bird's
eye view of the magnificent jungle surroundings
along with many courtyards and altars that adorn
this fascinating ancient city. Travelling south,
you camp deeper in the Petén jungle at
Poptún. A working finca (farm) welcomes
you here with opportunities to hike, bike, swim
and horseback ride. Continuing to Lago de Izabal,
you meet the captain of the chartered sailboat.
Sailing past the Castle of San Felipe. Returning
to Belize, you enjoy a jungle canoe trip on Barton
Creek to a traditional Maya ceremonial cave before
making a base camp in Central Belize. Here you
can take advantage of many excursions like cave
tubing, swimming in aqua-blue cenotes, and visiting
famous wildlife reserves, home to jaguar and manatee.
You finish this tremendous adventure at a pristine
Caribbean beach on the "Maya Riviera."

Leaving the lively capital
of Santiago, you follow the wine tasting trail
into Chile's famous orchards for a sampling of
the great wines produced here in the towering
Andes. Continuing into the beautiful Lake District,
you will climb a snow-capped volcano and peer
into its cone which still has bubbling lava flows.
Continuing south on one of the world's most remote
stretches of road known as the "Carretera
Austral". Next, you board a ferry and venture
into the wilds of Patagonia. After a well-deserved
soaking in the natural hot springs, you cross
into Argentina over the Andes and along Lake General
Carrera - South America's second largest lake.
Next comes the wide-open pampas, Argentina's famous
grasslands which are shared by a multitude of
creatures found only in South America. Then it's
on to the fantastic Fitzroy range of mountains
for three days of hiking. Continuing on to the
southern-most section of Los Glaciares National
Park, you will spend a day walking along the face
of the massive Perito Moreno Glacier. Take a boat
ride up to the face or don crampons and walk on
the glacier itself. On our way back into Chile
you will get a chance to sample some fine local
lamb cooked on a spit Patagonia style! But first,
you will stop to explore the UNESCO World Heritage
Site and national park, Torres del Paine, where
you will spend four days here exploring the park
and camping alongside shimmering lakes with thundering
glaciers calving into them. You ffinish this tremendous
journey at the world's southernmost city of Punta
Arenas.
